They say imitation is the sincerest for of flattery, and in this case, the creators of the Talon UAV should be extremely flattered. Introducing my latest FPV platform, the Warbler UAV. Needless to say, it was heavily inspired by the Talon UAV. After some sketching and planning, I decided my try building a similar plane, a pusher V-tail type specifically for FPV. Build time was around 10 hours.
It was built using Adams Readi-board, or Dollar Tree foamboard, a carbon fiber rod as a wing spar, plywood, balsa for the ailerons, hot glue and reinforced packing tape. Here are some additional specs:
- Motor: Turnigy D3536/8 1000KV Brushless Outrunner Motor
- ESC: 50 AMP Hobbyking Blue
- 4 9g metal gear servos
- 9 x 5 APC Props
- 3,000 4S Turnigy LiPo
The overall dimensions are:
- Wingspan: 50″
- Wing chord: 8″
- Fuselage length: 30″
- Weight: [TBD]
The next step is to install a flight controller and the rest of the FPV equipment. Stay tuned for more FPV videos using the Warbler!
